• Childminders
• A registered childminder works in their own home and is registered and inspected by Ofsted. They offer a flexible service to meet the specific needs of families.
• Nannies
• Nannies provide care in a child's own home - they are able to apply for registration on Ofsted's Voluntary Register. We do not give information about individuals but provide details of agencies that deal with nannies and au pairs.
• Nurseries
• Providing full day care for babies and children up to the age of 5, nurseries are registered and inspected by Ofsted.
• Holiday Playschemes
• Some schemes that cater for younger children are registered and inspected by Ofsted - we provide information about these as well as one-off activities that are held during school holidays.
• Out of School Clubs
• Clubs providing care for young children before and/or after school - those run by private organisations are registered and inspected by Ofsted.
• Pre-schools & School Nursery Classes
• Delivering early education - learning through play - to children aged from about 3 until they start school. Pre-school settings are registered and inspected by Ofsted.
• Parent & Toddler Groups
• Informal, unregistered, part-time self help groups of parents and carers that meet locally with their children on a regular basis. Toddler groups cater for children 0 to 5 years old.
